'We are not ready' - Maresca continues with mind games after Chelsea beat Brentford

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has insisted that the Blues are not potential title contenders despite beating Brentford to close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

The Blues recorded an impressive 2-1 victory over the Bees, maintaining their remarkable winning streak with five Premier League wins in a row.

Chelsea also closed the gap on Liverpool to two points, with the Reds having a game in hand.

Marc Cucurella gave Chelsea the lead in the 43rd minute, before Nicolas Jackson added the second in the 80th minute. Bryan Mbuemo pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 90th minute.

Speaking in a post-match reaction, Maresca stated that his side is not ready to compete for the Premier League title.

"It's not about how many games we win. It's about being realistic," Maresca stated, as quoted by the BBC.

"There are things we have to do better. That's why I said, for me, we are not ready."
