Augustine Eguavoen has expressed a great gesture towards newly appointed head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle.

In a heartwarming video that has surfaced online, Eguavoen was seen embracing his successor when the two men met ahead of Chelle's unveiling ceremony.

Chelle's appointment means Eguavoen, who was in charge of the team on an interim basis during the AFCON qualifiers will return to his original role as technical director of the NFF.

The unveiling ceremony took place at the Media Conference Room of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The NFF’s Technical and Development Sub-Committee recommended Chelle for the vacant role during its meeting on January 2, 2025, in Abuja.

This recommendation was subsequently approved by the NFF Executive Committee on January 7, 2025.

The 47-year-old has been tasked with the arduous task of reviving the Super Eagles' 2026 World Cup campaign.
