Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has fired back at Manchester City fans for mocking him with Rodri's Ballon d'Or banner at the Etihad Stadium during the UEFA Champions League playoff first leg clash on Tuesday night.

Los Blancos staged a remarkable comeback to beat the Premier League title holders 3-2 after being down 2-1 in the 85th minute.

Erling Haaland gave the home side the lead in the first half before Kylian Mbappe equalized at the hour mark.

Haaland restored City's lead from the spot in the 80th minute before substitute Brahim Diaz equalized five minutes later.

Jude Bellingham grabbed the winner for Carlo Ancelotti's side in stoppage time to seal a remarkable victory for the UCL title holders.

Vinicius, who was adjudged the Man of the Match, was asked about the Rodri Ballon d'Or banner and responded:

“I saw the banner from Man City fans… and it motivated me even more,” Vinicius said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“Whenever rival fans do things, it gives me more strength to play a great game.

“It’s difficult to explain what happens with Real Madrid in the Champions League.

“But you can see that we wanted to win. That is the mission, that is the plan,” he added.

Manchester City face a daunting prospect when they travel to the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg next week.
