Transfer: Chelsea confirms first summer signing for Enzo Maresca

Tosin Adarabioyo has become Enzo Maresca's first summer signing for Chelsea.

The defender joined the Blues on a free transfer after his contract with Fulham expired this summer.

Adarabioyo, 26, registered two goals in 22 appearances for Fulham last season.

Manchester United and Newcastle United were also reportedly interested in securing his services.

The former Manchester City defender signed a five-year deal with the Blues after completing his medicals with the club on Wednesday, June 5, according to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano.

Despite featuring at the youth level for England, Adarabioyo is yet to make his senior debut for the national team and remains eligible to represent Nigeria through his descent.

He was previously reported to have turned down an approach by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to represent the Super Eagles but opened the door to a potential call-up in 2020 when he expressed his desire to play at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with either England or Nigeria.
