Quadri Aruna has suffered a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Egypt’s Omar Assar in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup in Tunisia.

The loss prevents the Nigerian from winning a sixth title as the Egyptian reigned supreme.

Aruna made it to the final after breezing past Cameroonian Ylane Batix but was stopped by his arch-rival Assar who made the final by beating surprise semi-finalist Salifou Abdel Kader.

In the women's singles finals, Dina Meshref was dethroned by her Egyptian compatriot Hana Goda who came back from two sets down.

Meanwhile, all four finalists in the men’s and women’s singles as well as their semi-final opponents have secured their spots at the 225 ITTF World Cup in China.
