The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been placed on high alert over the availability of renowned manager Harve Renard who is a top target for the vacant Super Eagles job.

The NFF is seeking a capable replacement for Finidi George who tendered his resignation as Nigeria’s head coach after two poor results in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

According to Africa Soccer, Renard has announced his departure as head coach of the French women’s national team after the Paris Olympics 2024, making him available to take a new role.

Officials of NFF are reportedly actively pursuing a deal for the 55-year-old French technician, who is keen to return to Africa, to become the Super Eagles' next coach.

Renard boasts an impressive track record in African football, having led Zambia to victory at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012, and also achieved the same feat with Ivory Coast in 2015.

Renard set to leave France women

Meanwhile, Renard has reportedly confirmed he is set to leave his role as head coach of France's women's national team after the Olympic Games this summer per GOAL.

The 55-year-old manager was appointed last March when Corinne Diacre left the role and led Les Bleus to the quarter-finals at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand a few months later.

Nigeria is among some of the top countries including South Korea and Algeria who have been strongly linked with an interest in Renard when he becomes available after the Olympics.
