Sevilla forward Chidera Ejuke has set his sights on the Super Eagles' qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ejuke, 27, made his Super Eagles debut in 2020 during his time with CSKA Moscow and has gone on to win eight caps for the national team.
He last featured for the Eagles during the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, in Nigeria's 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau.
Despite his long absence from the Super Eagles team, Ejuke, who recently recovered from a high-grade hamstring tear sustained in Sevilla’s 5-1 loss to Barcelona back in October, is looking forward to a call-up from new head coach Eric Chelle ahead of the resumption of the World Cup qualifiers in March.
“The national team means a lot because I think as a player you always want to be able to represent your country, and when you get the chance it’s always nice, it’s incredible. Playing a World Cup would be very special, and I hope I can do it with the team, for sure,” the former Royal Antwerp forward said in quotes revealed by El Correo.
Currently sitting in 5th place in the qualifiers, the Super Eagles have it all to do in their remaining qualifying matches after picking up just three points in their first four qualifiers.
