Former General Manager of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Ekene Abubakar Adams has passed away at the age of 39.
According to reports, the lawmaker, who represented Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency of Kaduna State on the ticket of the Labour Party (LP), died on Tuesday, July 16.
Adams was a dedicated sports administrator, having served as the chairman of the house committee on sports, and previously as the general manager of Remo Stars and Kada City Football Club before his election to the house of representatives in 2023.
His passing was announced in a statement by the spokesperson of the house of reps, Akin Rotimi, who described Adams as a "dedicated public servant, passionate sports administrator, and kind philanthropist."
Rotimi remembered Adams as a "kind and gentle humanitarian, loved by all who knew him," and highlighted his commitment to the development of grassroots sports in Nigeria.
