Despite signing a contract extension with Napoli last December, Victor Osimhen has been tipped to depart the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, making him one of the hot topics in the transfer market this summer.
The 25-year-old has drawn interest from the Premier League with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea reportedly interested in his signature.
Paris Saint-Germain recently entered the fray as reports indicated that the Ligue 1 champions had reached personal agreement with the reigning African Footballer of the Year.
Despite the interests, Osimhen's £130 million release clause has become a significant obstacle to his departure from the Naples-based club.
According to recent reports, Napoli and Chelsea are currently in talks regarding a potential swap deal involving Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku.
The Athletic reports that Lukaku's move to Napoli is expected to be permanent, while Osimhen’s move to Stamford Bridge would be a season-long loan with an option to buy.
Jose Mourinho, who had two separate stints with Chelsea, believes the Nigerian international is on the same level as Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
The former Roma boss, however, warned the Super Eagles striker about certain behaviors that he believes will not be tolerated in the Premier League.
"He [Osimhen] is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn't dive. If Victor changes, then OK. I'd buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money, Jose told reporters after Napoli's Serie A clash against Roma during the 2022/2023 season.
"However, if he does go to England one day, he needs to change because, in Italy, they put up with this sort of behaviour, whereas in the Premier League, they'd come down hard on him."
