Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has debunked rumours of animosity between him and newly crowned CAF Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman.
The Atalanta forward was crowned the new king of African football on Monday, December 16, beating the likes of Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea), Simon Adingra (Côte d'Ivoire), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa) to win the prestigious award.
Following his historic feat, many Super Eagles stars took to their social media platforms to congratulate the English-born Nigerian international.
Unlike some Super Eagles stars, Victor Osimhen, who won the award last year, did not share any social media posts congratulating his national teammate.
This raised eyebrows about a possible strained relationship between the Super Eagles attacking duo.
However, Osimhen had earlier congratulated the Atalanta star in a pre-recorded video, according to Soccernet.
Responding to a fan's tweet on why he had not congratulated Lookman, the former Lille striker wrote: "Done since yesterday around 23:49 Turkish time.😁"
Osimhen is enjoying his football in Turkey after joining Galatasaray in early September.
The 25-year-old has registered 10 goals and five assists in 14 games for the Super Lig champions.
