The professional life of Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is once again troubled as he got himself involved in a serious driving-related offence.
The 25-year-old Udinese goalkeeper was caught by Italian authorities driving an unregistered vehicle without a valid driver’s licence or insurance.
He has since been fined for the offence which adds to other off-field challenges he has been facing, leaving his career threatened.
Part of his on-field challenges includes an alleged betting scandal related to a yellow card he received for time-wasting during a Serie A match against Lazio in March 2024.
If found guilty after a probe, the Nigerian international could be banned for up to four years under Article 24 of the Italian Code of Sports Justice.
Okoye also had relationship issues in 2024 when Dutch model Jelicia Westhoff accused him of disrespecting their relationship and her family. The model later retracted her words amid allegations of emotional and physical abuse strongly denied by the footballer.
Meanwhile, Okoye has been named in the Eagles provisional list released by coach Eric Chelle.
The Eagles will face Zimbabwe and Rwanda in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month.
