Nantes winger Moses Simon has become the first Super Eagles star to react to Eric Chelle's appointment as the new head coach of Nigeria.

On Tuesday, January 7, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ended its long search for the Super Eagles gaffer following the resignation of Finidi George in June last year.

NFF technical director Augustine Eguavoen has served as the interim gaffer for the three-time African champions following the federation's botched appointment of German tactician Bruno Labbadia.

Eguavoen guided the 2023 AFCON finalists to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after finishing on top of Group D ahead of Benin, Libya, and Rwanda in the qualifiers campaign.

Chelle has the arduous task of qualifying Nigeria for the 2026 World Cup, with the Super Eagles currently languishing in 5th position in Group C behind Rwanda, South Africa, Benin, and Lesotho.

Reacting to Chelle's appointment, Super Eagles winger Moses Simon welcomed the new gaffer in a post on X, "Welcome to Nigeria," the 29-year-old wrote.
