Jose Mourinho has congratulated the Spanish national team on their triumph in the European championships in Germany.
Spain beat England 2-1 to win the Euros for a record fourth time at the Berlin Olympic Stadium on Sunday, July 14.
Nico Williams gave La Roja the lead early in the second half, before Cole Palmer came off the bench to equalized for England.
Mikel Oyarzabal scored a late winner for Spain in the 86th minute, sealing a remarkable victory to wrap up a brilliant campaign.
Spain finished the tournament with a hundred percent record, winning all seven matches.
Reacting to Spain's triumph, Jose Mourinho hailed Alvaro Morata and Nacho Fernandez, whom he gave their senior team debuts during his tenure as Real Madrid head coach. However, he admitted that he didn't quite see the potential of Dani Carvajal.
On Instagram, Mourinho wrote: "2024 European Champions! Captain Nacho Fernandez and captain Alvaro Morata, many congratulations to them and to the coach who gave them their debut when they were just kids in the Academy. Same coach who didn't understand that Dani Carvajal was another one."
Mourinho also commended Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente for his outstanding work. "Many congratulations to Mister De la Fuente for an amazing job. The best team won," the 61-year-old concluded.
