Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has hinted at the possible return of Nigerian international Ademola Lookman.

Speaking ahead of Atalanta's UEFA Champions League last-16 playoff clash against Club Brugge, Gasperini disclosed that the reigning African Footballer of the Year will return to action in the coming days.

Lookman sustained an injury during training ahead of Atalanta's last UCL clash against Barcelona in the league phase.

The 27-year-old has returned to training after missing Atalanta's last four games against Barcelona, Torino, Bologna, and Verona.

However, it is still unclear if he will be available for selection when Gasperini's team takes on Club Brugge.

“Lookman had a rather annoying bruise that he’s been carrying over from Naples. We’ll see in the next few days if he’ll be available for Wednesday,” Gasperini said in the pre-match conference.

According to Guardian Nigeria, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is greatly delighted with Lookman's return ahead of next month's crucial World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria will take on Rwanda on March 21 before facing Zimbabwe five days later.
