Rangers head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has expressed confidence that his team will complete the double over US Zilimadjou of Comoros.
The Nigerian champion secured a 1-0 victory in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round match on Sunday, with Frank Uwumikro scoring the only goal in the 22nd minute.
The Comoros’ league champions opted to use Nigeria as their base for their CAF Champions League home games because CAF declared their home ground in Moroni as unfit to host the game.
Reflecting on the game, the head coach, Ilechuckwu said, “It was a game we had control over in the first stanza and could have scored more goals that would have killed any fight back from our opponent.
We lowered our guard in the second stanza and they came out to attack but we stood out to see off the encounter.
We will go back to the drawing board to prepare very well for the return leg and we are positive going forward.”
The return leg tie comes up this Friday, August 23, at the same venue. Hopefully, Ilechukwu's positive assurance on his team defeating the US Zilimadjou draws them closer to achieving their dream.
