Former MFM defender Joshua Akpudje and Super Falcons' Ramat Ohunene have been labeled as the first Nigerian football couple, as all signs indicate that the pair are in a romantic relationship.
Akpudje, 26, started his professional career with Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) side MFM FC in 2019. After a season with the NPFL side, he moved to Europe, joining BFC Daugavpils in the Latvian Higher League. He was later loaned to Lithuanian club Panevėžys after two seasons.
Akpudje then signed a two-year contract, with an option for a third, with Dinamo Tbilisi in February 2024. Currently without a club, Akpudje's last club was Ilves in Finland. He left after helping the club to a second-place finish in the league.
Ramat Ohunene, on the other hand, is a Super Falcons midfielder who plays for Turkish side Adana İdman Yurdu in the Turkish Women's First Football League.
Ramat started her club career with Nasarawa Amazons FC, where she played in the 2013 season. She later moved to Adamawa Queens and featured for the club in the 2014 and 2015 seasons. In 2016, she moved to play for Abia Angels and Confluence Queens of Lokoja in the 2017 season.
In November 2019, following a successful trial, Ramat Ohunene Abdulkareem made her first move to Europe from the Nigeria Women's Premier League top-flight side Confluence Queens.
