Tottenham Hotspurs goalkeeper, Joshua Oluwayemi is delighted to be invited by the Nigeria Football Federation for the friendly match against Mexico.
Oluwayemi was handed a late call-up to the squad as a replacement for Heartland FC goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa who was dropped after picking up an injury in training.
The 20-year-old has since joined up with the squad in Los Angeles and he's expected to compete with John Noble and Stanley Nwabali for the starting shirt.
He wrote in a tweet: "It’s an honour to get called to my national team @NGSuperEagles . Tune in to watch us take on Mexico, in Los Angeles " he wrote on Twitter.
Oluwayemi, who was born in England to Nigerian parents, started his football career in a local academy in London. He signed a new deal with Tottenham Hotspurs last summer and was promoted to the first team by former boss Jose Mourinho.
Before switching allegiance to Nigeria, the 20-year-old featured for England at the U13 and U17 levels.
