The stage is set for another chapter in the rivalry between José Mourinho and Victor Osimhen following the latter’s move to the Turkish Super Lig.

After their encounters in Serie A, in matches between Roma and Napoli, Turkish football fans will now witness another showdown between the veteran Portuguese manager and the former Capocannoniere winner in the fierce Intercontinental Derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.

The ‘Special One’, who signed for Fenerbahçe in June, will undoubtedly see the signing of the Super Eagles striker by his rivals as a threat to their league title ambitions.

The Portuguese tactician, who was sacked by AS Roma earlier this year, believes the Nigerian international is on the same level as Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

Speaking in a post-match reaction after Osimhen scored the winner in Napoli’s 2-1 victory over Roma during the 2022/2023 Serie A campaign, Mourinho stated the one condition under which he would sign the Super Eagles striker.

“He [Osimhen] is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn’t dive. If Victor changes, then OK. I’d buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money.”
