Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has disclosed who influenced his move to Galatasaray.
The 25-year-old completed his loan move to the Turkish Super Lig champions in early September, following his failed transfer to either Chelsea or Al Ahli on transfer deadline day.
Osimhen’s dream move to Stamford Bridge fell through due to disagreements over his personal terms.
Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League giants Al Ahli pulled out of the deal after Napoli changed their initial demand for the Nigerian.
The fallout with Napoli led to Osimhen being expelled from the first team.
In a recent development, the reigning African Footballer of the Year has named Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk as the instrumental figure behind his decision to join the Super Lig.
“Coach Okan was key to my decision to come here,” Osimhen said in an interview with the club’s YouTube channel.
“We spoke before I arrived, and he shared his plans with me. He’s a great person who encourages me a lot. Having played the game himself, I was incredibly impressed after our conversation.”
After registering three assists in his first three games for the club, Osimhen finally found the back of the net, scoring a first-half brace in Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa on Saturday, September 28.
Osimhen was substituted in the first half after sustaining an injury.
