Veteran Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho has criticized Victor Osimhen following his recent move to Galatasaray.
Osimhen, 25, joined the Turkish Super Lig champions on a season-long loan from Napoli last week after his highly anticipated move to Chelsea collapsed on transfer deadline day.
The Super Eagles striker’s move to the Turkish league means that he will be competing against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe side.
The 61-year-old joined the Turkish giants in June following his dismissal by AS Roma earlier this year.
After their encounters in Serie A, in matches between Roma and Napoli, ‘The Special One’ and Osimhen will face each other in the fierce Intercontinental Derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.
Speaking on the prospect of facing the reigning African Footballer of the Year, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid boss criticized Osimhen, claiming he dives too much.
However, Mourinho believes Osimhen is one of the greatest players from the African continent, in the same league as Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, and George Weah.
“The last time we played against him during Roma vs Napoli, I had this conversation with him,” Mourinho told HT Spor.
“I told Osimhen, ‘you are one of the best players in Africa along with Salah. Before, there were Drogba, Eto’o, and Weah. You can’t be diving.’
“He dives too much, and that’s my problem with him, but after 10 minutes, we are fine.”
