Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has lifted the lid on putting his properties in his mother's name.
Widespread reports in 2023 indicated that Hiba Abouk, the ex-wife of the Moroccan international, had demanded half of the player's properties after their divorce, which was fueled by rape allegations leveled against the defender.
Surprisingly, it emerged that the player has nothing in his name as all his wealth and properties are in his mother's name.
Spanish outlet Marca reported that the player's mother has been receiving his son's weekly wages through her bank account.
This interesting development gained global attention across the sporting spectrum as many hailed the former Real Madrid defender for pulling off a great move against his estranged wife.
Addressing the issue nearly two years on, the 26-year-old has disclosed that his mother has been in charge of his income since childhood.
"In fact, when I was young and started playing football, I always talked about football. Since I was young, I earned much money from football but I couldn't manage it," the PSG right-back said on Anas Bukhash's Unveiling The Truth Show on YouTube.
"So my mother managed all that. So I learned from her how I can manage these things. She helped me deal with these things.
"I always take her opinion about money. When I buy a house or car, or when I make a lot of money."
Hakimi also added that the experience with his ex-wife has taught him a great lesson, and he believes that a mother is the only person who genuinely has love for her children.
"And that was why we decided that she won't return to work because we realized that we can handle that.
"She was the one who managed everything. When you have money, you can only trust a few people.
"I think your mother is the only person that loves you truly whether you have money or not.
"When you have money, your mother will save it for you. So you can always possess the money and won't think she will steal from you. Technically, your money is hers."
