Newly appointed manager of the Super Eagles, Finidi George, is gearing up for his first task as manager of the Nigerian team.
The 53-year-old is barely a month away from his first official assignment as manager of the team and appears to have drafted a provisional list for his first run of fixtures.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finalists are poised to face both South Africa and the Benin Republic in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series, and Finidi is ensuring his team is all ready for their crunch run of fixtures.
According to a report from OwnGoalNigeria, the former Real Betis forward has sent a provisional squad list to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the June international fixtures.
Finidi send provisional list to NFF
According to the report, the Super Eagles coach sent out a list of 35 players, which is expected to be subsequently cut down to 25 players.
The report also emphasises that the players on the list are expected to comprise primarily of the players that played at the AFCON.
However, it concludes that the players on Coach Finidi's shortlist have had invitation letters sent to their respective clubs, requesting their availability for the upcoming fixtures.
Finidi, who is also in the process of finalising his assistant coaches and backroom staff, is scheduled to meet with the NFF to formalise the appointments of his assistants and support staff.
The Super Eagles are set to clash with South Africa in Uyo on June 7 and then take on Benin Republic in Ivory Coast on June 10.
