Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze has assured AC Milan fans that he will deliver a better performance for the club in the upcoming season.

The 25-year-old had a challenging start to last season after joining the Rossoneri from Spanish La Liga outfit Villarreal.

Chukwueze, who struggled to make an impact and spent a significant portion of the season on the bench, often coming on as a substitute for Christian Pulisic, managed only three goals and three assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for the seven-time European champions.

However, after a standout performance against Premier League title holders Manchester City, where he set up two goals in AC Milan’s 3-2 victory, Chukwueze has promised fans a stronger showing next season.

“I like the new coach. He gave me an opportunity straight away, and it’s important when someone trusts you. The fans will see a new Samu this year,” Chukwueze told Milan TV.

Despite the victory, Chukwueze acknowledged that the team is far from perfect and that there is still much work to be done ahead of the new season.

“We had a great feeling in this second friendly. It wasn’t an easy match, and winning it was exactly what the team and our coach needed to build more belief and train better. We still have a lot to learn about the coach’s tactics. We made some mistakes, but we managed to limit them and take our chances. We need to continue working and stay focused on the season. I’m very happy to be part of the team from the beginning and hope to give my best this season to show my worth,” the Super Eagles winger concluded.

Next up for AC Milan in their preseason is a friendly against Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona before they begin their Serie A campaign against Torino.
