Chioma Ajunwa, Nigeria’s first Olympic medalist, has described Nigeria’s participation in the recently concluded Paris 2024 Olympics as disheartening.

The Nigerian athlete made this statement in an interview with Arise Television on Monday morning when asked about her experience during the Olympics.

Recall that Team Nigeria returned home without a single medal from the recently concluded Olympic Games held in Paris, France.

Responding to the question, she stated that it was a huge loss for the nation, adding that athletes wasted their time, resources, and energy.

In her words, “It’s quite disheartening that every year Nigeria tells this kind of story.

If you remember, after the last Olympics before this, it was still the same thing.

They keep telling us, ‘Oh, let them go back to the drawing board,’ but we never see the drawing board, and we don’t know how to draw on it.

It’s quite unfortunate that we have lost all the chances. And the athletes have wasted their time, energy, and personal resources.

It is quite unfortunate that Nigeria spent so much, but that is not my concern because we don’t spend that money when we are supposed to.
