Interim coach Augustine Eguavoen has disclosed the conditions under which he would consider taking up the Super Eagles coaching job on a permanent basis.

Eguavoen, who is the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), was tasked with leading the team in the AFCON qualifier matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda after the NFF’s botched agreement with German tactician Bruno Labbadia.

The former international is now in charge of the team for the fourth time, as the NFF continues its pursuit of finding Finidi George’s replacement following his resignation in June.

Eguavoen is still expected to be at the helm when Nigeria takes on Libya in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers on October 11 and 15.

Speaking on the possibility of replacing Finidi George as the next substantive Super Eagles coach, the 59-year-old stated that he would assume the role provided he is offered a long-term contract by the NFF.

“It will be a tough one. You have to give me a long-term contract with patience and clauses in that contract because winning is not guaranteed every week or day,” he told Brila FM.

“You will give me time to tweak the team till I find what I want.”
