A recent DNA test has unveiled Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior's African roots.
According to the test, the Brazilian international's ancestors hailed from Cameroon.
This was revealed ahead of Brazil's World Cup qualifier clash against Uruguay, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday, November 19.
The 24-year-old was presented with the DNA certificate during the warm-up ahead of the game, along with a video narrating the history of his Tikar ancestors, a tribe in Cameroon.
The certificate was presented to the 2024 Ballon d'Or runner-up by the President of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues, and the player's father.
Reacting to his latest discovery, Vinicius stated that it is a special moment for him and his family to discover their roots.
“Discovering that my roots are in Cameroon is a very special moment for me and my family.
“It reminds me that, despite the challenges, our origins and our history count for a lot.”
