At least, nine footballers have been reportedly sacked by Swiss Super League side FC Sion for rejecting a pay cut during the coronavirus crisis.
Of the nine, two ex-Arsenal players Alex Song and Johan Djourou, as well as ex-Fulham midfielder Pajtim Kasami, are among those confirmed as being dismissed by the club, according to the BBC.
Captain Xavier Kouassi, former Newcastle loanee Seydou Doumbia, Ermir Lenjani, Mickael Facchinetti, Christian Zock and Birama Ndoye are the others to be sacked.
The Swiss league has been postponed until further notice since March 1 after the government banned gatherings of more than 1,000 people.
With 13 matches left for the 2019/20 season, Sion are eighth in the 10-team league, four points clear of the drop zone.
