The search for a new Super Eagles head coach has taken a dramatic turn, with former coach José Peseiro rumored to be in the running for a shock return.

Finidi George's resignation after just two games in charge has left the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) scrambling to find a suitable replacement.

Despite a string of foreign coaches expressing interest in the role, the NFF is yet to settle on a candidate.

Peseiro, who guided the Super Eagles to the final of the African Cup of Nations before departing in February, is reportedly not keen on returning to the team.

Sources close to the Portuguese coach claim he had a rift with the NFF hierarchy during his tenure, which ended due to a contract disagreement.
