Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has cautioned clubs to be wary of the threat posed by Aston Villa after the club completed the signing of Amadou Onana.

The Senegalese-born Belgian international joined Villa Park outfit in a deal worth £50 million from Premier League rivals Everton.

Oliseh, a huge admirer of Villa boss Unai Emery, believes Onana's signing will strengthen the Villa team and take the club to the next level.

He warned fans not to bet against Aston Villa in the upcoming season.

"This transfer deal [Amadou Onana] has the potential to take Unai Emery's Aston Villa to a totally different level. Be smart, don't dare bet against Villa this season," Oliseh wrote on his X.

Onana was exceptional for Belgium during the European Championship, playing every minute for the Red Devils until their elimination against France in the round of 16.

He joined Everton from Lille for £33 million in 2022, making 72 appearances and scoring four goals for the Toffees.

The 22-year-old will have the opportunity to showcase his talents at the highest level of club football as Villa will feature in the UEFA Champions League next season after finishing top four in the Premier League.
