Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has announced his retirement from professional football.
The 37-year-old who has been inactive in recent years called time on his illustrious career on Tuesday, June 20 while speaking at the Afremximbank 30th Annual Meeting held in Accra.
The emotional Gyan was consoled by Ivorian legend Didier Drogba who was present at the International Conference.
The former Sunderland striker is Africa's top scorer at the FIFA World Cup with 6 goals.
He is also Ghana's all-time top scorer with 51 goals.
Gyan last featured for the Black Stars at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, coming on as a second-half substitute against Tunisia in the last 16 stage.
