Arsenal have published a list of the 22 players they are releasing in a massive summer clearout.

The Gunners are looking to rebuild again following an encouraging Premier League season that saw them nearly win the title.

Mikel Arteta led his charges to an incredible campaign, picking up an impressive 28 wins in 38 outings.

However, the North Londoners fell short once again in their hope to conquer the English topflight for the first time in two decades, with Manchester City beating them to the crown on the final day.

However, despite the heartbreak suffered on the last day of the season, Arteta is still expected to give the title push another stab next season.

According to SPORTbible, part of the Spaniard's efforts is overhauling the current squad, a move that has seen dozens of players move on.

The publication adds that the London club have already made the decision to cut ties with several players when their contracts expire at the end of June.

Which players has Arsenal released?

A list published by the club shows that at least 22 players, including first-team stars, have been let go.

"We thank all the players leaving us for their contributions to the club. You will always be part of the Arsenal family and we wish you all the best of health and happiness in your futures," a statement by the club cited by Metro UK said.

Portuguese defender, Cedric Soares, and Egyptian midfielder, Mohamed Elneny, top the list of players who will leave in the summer.

Soares joined the Gunners from Southampton in 2020 but has managed only 64 appearances for the club.

Elneny, a fan favourite, has made over 160 appearances for the Emirates Stadium outfit, having joined the club eight years ago from Swiss side, Basel.

Goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo, joins the duo in the list of players departing the club following his return from Wrexham, where he was on loan.

The other 19 players include: Ovie Ejeheri, Hubert Graczyk, James Hillson, Taylor Foran, Alex Kirk, Henry Jeffcott, James Lannin-Sweet, Mauro Bandeira, Catalin Cirjan, Kido Taylor-Hart, Tyreece John-Jules, and Henry Davies.

Scholar players who have also been let go are: Omari Benjamin, Luis Brown, Noah Cooper, and Kamarni Ryan.

From the women's team, Sabrina D'Angelo, Vivianne Miedema, and Kaylan Marckese will be departing.
