Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen is injured and may not play a part in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.

The 26-year-old missed out of training for Napoli on Wednesday, May 15 and will miss the clubs Series A game against Fiorentina on May 17 (today).

Reports indicate that Mario Rui and Piotr Zielinski also worked separately from the rest of the squad, while Jens Lindstrom returned to the first team.

The Super Eagles will take on Bafana Bafana at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on June 7, followed by a date with the Republic of Benin in Abidjan three days later.

Bright Osayi-Samuel and Samuel Chukwueze are also major doubts for the qualifiers. The Super Eagles have started the qualifying series on a poor note, with back-to-back 1-1 draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Osimhen has netted 15 league goals this season, but numerous injuries and his absence due to the 2023 AFCON tournament in January and February affected him.
