Head coach of Middlesbrough, Michael Carrick, has expressed his excitement with the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Nigerian international joined the Sky Bet Championship side on transfer deadline day on Monday, February 3.
The 28-year-old joined the Teessiders on a six-month loan deal for the remainder of the season.
Sharing his thoughts on Iheanacho's return to the Championship, Carrick stated that he is delighted with the acquisition of the former Leicester City forward.
“Obviously, I'm delighted Kelechi is joining us. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to be in time for tonight, but he’ll be an important player for us and have a big impact,” Carrick told Sky Sports.
“We have got some good attacking players. We’ll have a good week’s training and settle everyone down again before we go again."
Iheanacho is expected to make his debut for Middlesbrough when they take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Wednesday, February 12.
