Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has joined Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal.

Dortmund have identified the 21-year-old as a suitable option for the club's No. 8 role.

The former Aston Villa midfielder has made just five appearances for the Blues this season, with four of those appearances coming in the Conference League and one in the EFL Cup.

The deal will offer Chukwuemeka the chance to enjoy regular playing time, something he didn't get under Enzo Maresca.

Dortmund have the option to make the deal permanent after the loan spell.

Chukwuemeka expressed his excitement to have joined the Signal Iduna outfit.

“It is very exciting for me and I am truly honoured to be part of this great club. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at Signal Iduna Park and help us all to be successful together,” he told the club's website.
