Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been handed a new shirt number at Galatasaray following the completion of his loan move.

The Nigerian international had fallen out with his parent club Napoli following the collapse of his anticipated summer transfer from the Serie A outfit.

Despite extending his deal with the Neapolitans last December, the reigning African Footballer of the Year has been widely linked with a move to the Premier League, the French Ligue 1 and the Saudi Pro League.

With his €130 million release clause emerging as a huge obstacle for his suitors, Chelsea and Saudi-based club Al-Ahli were the only two clubs who were left in the race for the signature of the Nigerian international on transfer deadline day.

With both deals hitting a snag at the 11th hour, the 25-year-old had no option but to engineer a move away from Naples following his expulsion from Antonio Conte's first team.

The former Lille striker was also stripped off his iconic number 9 shirt which was handed to new summer signing Romelu Lukaku.

Osimhen eventually secured a move to the Turkish Super Lig, joining Galatasaray on a season-long dry loan with no option or obligation to buy.

Per his contract, the player will also be permitted leave in January with the right offer.

The Nigerian international was given a hero's welcome in Istanbul as thousands of Galatasaray fans thronged the airport to welcome their new signing.

Contrary to initial reports suggesting that Osimhen will wear jersey number 99, the latest report as per Tutto Napoli indicates that the striker will don the number 45 shirt as revealed at the club's web store.
