Former Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has decried the Nigerian national team's performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Nigeria's chances of picking up a ticket to the global showpiece hangs by a thread after they managed just three points from a possible 12.
The Super Eagles have failed to win any of their matches at the qualifiers, having registered three draws and one loss.
After drawing 1-1 with Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, respectively, the Super Eagles lost 2-1 to Benin Republic, managed by Rohr.
Nigeria had failed to qualify for the 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar after conceding the ticket to the Black Stars of Ghana.
Rohr has now suggested that it would be shameful if the Super Eagles miss the next one. The tactician said in an interview with Punch:
"I think a country like Nigeria, who missed the last World Cup after losing against Ghana, can do better now. The only disappointment for me was missing the 2022 World Cup (with Nigeria), because I was sure that we could do it after finishing first in our group.
"But they decided to change everything. If they miss another one, for such a football country with the best players in Africa, it would be a little bit shameful."
Benin Coach, Gernot Rohr says it will be shameful if Nigeria fail to qualify for the FIFA World Cup again.
