Getafe boss José Bordalás has confirmed that the club will be without influential Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche when they host Real Madrid on Wednesday in La Liga matchday 33.
Uche, one of Getafe’s standout performers this season, is suspended following a red card in their 1-0 defeat away to Espanyol last weekend — his second sending-off of the campaign.
Despite the blow, Bordalás insists his team must remain focused and not dwell on the absence of one of their brightest talents.
Getafe boss on Uche suspension
“We’re missing Nyom, Diego Rico, and Uche due to suspension. We’re not looking at the absences, we’re looking at the players we have,” said Bordalás during his pre-match press conference as per Marca.
“We have to give a fabulous performance, we have to be at 110%. We know it won’t be easy; Real Madrid is a great club, a great squad with players who can win a game.”

Uche has been a revelation since joining from third-tier side Ceuta for €500,000 last summer.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has featured in 30 La Liga games this season — only defender Juan Iglesias has played more for Getafe. Uche leads the team with five assists and has contributed three goals in 2,245 minutes of action.
His manager acknowledged the impact of his suspension but refused to be drawn into speculation about who will step in.
“It’s clear that absences are always important for us. We have the squad we have, and any setback isn’t good. This isn’t the time to lament. I have in mind who will replace him (Uche),” Bordalás added.
The fixture was brought forward due to Real Madrid’s involvement in the Copa del Rey final.
Los Blancos remain in pursuit of leaders Barcelona, sitting four points behind with six matches left. They edged Athletic Club 1-0 in their previous outing and are firmly on course for another top-two finish.
Getafe, currently 12th on 39 points, trail seventh-placed Mallorca by five points in the race for European qualification. They will be hoping to upset the odds against a Real Madrid side who have won the last six meetings between the teams, outscoring Getafe 10-1 since April 2022.
Uche scored on his La Liga debut back in August against Athletic Club and has been a regular starter, clocking up 27 starts. His most recent goal came in a 2-1 win over Girona in February.
