A former governorship candidate in Lagos, Funsho Doherty, has said he will not relent in his case against the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway despite a court ruling against him.

Doherty had challenged the construction of the super highway, displaying skepticism towards the process that led to the contract award.

However, his case was ruled against by a Federal High Court last week.

Reacting, Doherty revealed that he will embark on his next move against the coastal highway as soon as he's fully briefed on the court ruling.

He wrote on X, "This week, the Federal High Court ruled against us in our case challenging the process of awarding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road contract. We await the certified judgment to review and decide next steps, and will speak further when we have more information."

His post didn't go without criticism from youths on social media.

An X user, @TaiwoSa66275607, said, "Have you seen anyone opposing or challenging the Sokoto Lagos 1000km Road? No, because Northerners are more calculated and pro-Nigeria than the majority of Southerners. Go to appeal and you will lose again."

@sulaimonidowuu said, "Why do you want to be an enemy of progress all in the name of opposition politics?"

@de_generalnoni said, "Read the room now oga! You have the ambition to govern Lagos state and read from the people you intend to govern. Are you fighting for yourself or people??? People are happy with the project but you kept wasting your money! Read the room, Oga."

@Ade15026 said, "@funsodoherty we al know the process was flawed, but currently work has moved fast and taxpayers' money has been spent in all of this. I am not sure the best step forward is to continue with the legal battle. I hope our Government will always look to do things right going forward."
