Oluwo of Iwo makes case for not worshipping Ogun, Sango gods

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has said his critics should give him reasons why he should worship Ogun and Sango, gods of Yoruba land.

Oba Akanbi has been under criticism of late for embracing Islam over traditional worship, despite wearing a crown owned by traditional worshipers.

He recently alleged plots to removed him from his throne, fingering the Ooni of Ife as the ringleader.

In a post on Facebook, the Oluwo of Iwo told his critics that he would only worship Ogun and Sango if they could tell him who Oduduwa worshipped as the great grandfather of Ogun and Sango.

He said, "I Will Abdicate My Throne If You Tell Me Deity Oduduwa Worshipped - Oluwo

"Oduduwa was the founder of the ancient Yoruba Crown. His great grandchildren were Ogun and Sango. They came far, far after Oduduwa.

"Is it logical to tell me a father worshipped his great great grand children? How do you want me to join you to tell lies to this inquisitive digital generation? O wrong now.

"I will Abdicate the throne the day you tell me the deity Oduduwa worshipped."
