Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has backed Trent Alexander-Arnold on his move to Real Madrid next season.
The 25-year-old has come under severe criticism from Reds fans after agreeing to join Real Madrid next season on a free transfer.
Alexander-Arnold, a product of Liverpool’s academy, has spent nine seasons with Liverpool's first team following his promotion in 2016.
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged Liverpool fans to appreciate the full-back, who has spent his entire career at the club and decided not to join any Premier League rival.
"You should be saying thank you and good luck,” Ferdinand said.
"Trent Alexander-Arnold, you didn’t pay a penny for him. He’s one of your own and he won it all."
"He’s choosing to leave—not for a rival, not for a team in the Premier League, but for the biggest club in the world. You should be saying, ‘I’d love him to stay but well done,’” Ferdinand added.
Sharing his thoughts on Alexander-Arnold's move to Madrid, Oliseh shared Ferdinand's sentiments by urging the Reds to wish the England international well.
"Like is often the case, Rio nails it again on the Trent Alexander-Arnold departure rants. The man served you, decides to leave, and you should wish him well!” Oliseh posted on X.
