Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has said former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is too calm to confront President Bola Tinubu in an election.

It would be recalled that Obi lost to Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, coming third behind former vice president Atiku Abubakar.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, looks to be running again for the Presidency in 2027 against incumbent Tinubu.

Reacting, Adeyanju said only rugged folks can contest against Tinubu and not someone as calm as Obi.

He wrote on X, "Peter Obi is on Arise talking calmly and gently about Nigeria. Nigerians acting like they are not aware sef. In today’s Nigeria, Obi is only good for beautiful speeches and motivational beautiful stories about China, etc. Only extremely rugged folks can contest against Tinubu."

Adeyanju said this after Obi went on Arise TV on Tuesday to lambast the Tinubu administration and its handling of the economy.

He said, "He(Tinubu) said he would continue from where the previous government stopped, and he is doing well. He met $1 at about N400 and took it to N1,500; he is doing fantastically what he promised."
