The three-time African champions were held to a 1-1 stalemate at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo in their sixth game of the qualifying series.
Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen gave Nigeria the lead in the 74th minute, but Tawanda Chirewa equalized for Zimbabwe in stoppage time.
