Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has wondered why governors of the Southeast region are yet to visit President Bola Tinubu concerning his client.

Kanu is being held in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) over terrorism and treasonable felony.

His case is currently in court as brought forward by the Federal Government which had him brought back from Kenya, and act his lawyers claim to be illegal.

Since his arrest and detention, the Southeast has been facing insecurity, with kidnapping and killings on the rise.

This prompted the governors to meet in Enugu and concluded to meet President Tinubu to seek Kanu's release.

Eight months after the Enugu meeting, the governors are yet to meet President Tinubu as promised.

Reacting, Ejimakor shared on X, "In July 2024, Southeast Governors gathered together in Enugu & publicly promised to meet with President Tinubu for the release of MAZI NNAMDI KANU. SE Governors need to tell the public why this meeting has not held after eight months. A promise is a debt."
