President Bola Tinubu's aide, Olusegun Dada, has reminded former vice president Atiku Abubakar of how state of emergency was declared in Plateau and Ekiti states when he served under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
This was after Atiku condemned Tinubu for declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State to douse the crisis rocking the state.
Reacting, Atiku said the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State reeks of political manipulation and outright bad faith.
"Anyone paying attention to the unfolding crisis knows that Bola Tinubu has been a vested partisan actor in the political turmoil engulfing Rivers. His blatant refusal or calculated negligence in preventing this escalation is nothing short of disgraceful.
"Beyond the political scheming in Rivers, the brazen security breaches that led to the condemnable destruction of national infrastructure in the state land squarely on the President’s desk.
"Tinubu cannot evade responsibility for the chaos his administration has either enabled or failed to prevent," he said.
In response, Dada urged Atiku to learn to separate emotions from logic.
He said, "Alhaji calm down. Mr President acted within his powers as enshrined in Section 305 of the 1999 constitution the same way you and your boss exercised your powers to declare a state of emergency in Ekiti, Plateau. As an elder statesman should know when to separate emotions from logic."
