The immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has told the leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to "eat the party."
El-Rufai stated this days after dumping the party to become a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In his resignation letter, the former governor revealed that he left the party because he confirmed that the leaders were not ready to effect necessary changes to steer it away from problems.
In a recent interview with BBC Hausa, El-Rufai said he wished the party had expelled him instead of him leaving on his own accord.
He said: “Well, it would have been better for me if they expelled me. I have stated many times that APC would be my last political party.
“Had they expelled me, they would have saved me the troubles of explaining why I left the APC. As I said, I have not left the APC, but the APC rather left me.
“What next? I quit their party, and challenged them to eat the party if it is food.”
