The lawmaker representing Apapa Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has tendered her resignation.

This was as she vacated the seat of Speaker of the assembly which she assumed on January 13.

Reports have it that Meranda resigned in the interest of the All Progressives Congress.

The party faced a crisis after the lawmaker representing Agege Constituency 1, Mudashiru Obasa, was removed by the assembly members over gross misconduct and financial misappropriation.

However, Obasa argued that his removal didn't followed due process, hence he claimed to still be the speaker despite his deputy, Meranda, replacing him.

He showed up on Monday to resume duty as speaker while Meranda vacated the seat.

Meanwhile, members of the assembly gathered during plenary to bid Meranda a heartfelt farewell.

During proceedings, the lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency, Desmond Elliot, couldn't hold back his tears as he wished her farewell.
