Popular on-air personality, Rufai Oseni, has quizzed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on claims that streetlights have been fixed in the capital city.

Rufai, in a video he shared on his Instagram page, wondered why Abuja was still dark despite the minister's claims.

"See how Abuja is dark," he said, adding, "where are the streetlights Wike claims he has done? Where are the streetlights Mr. Wike can claim he has done? Where are the streetlights? This is Constitutional Avenue. Where are the streetlights? He claims he has done it. See the capital city dark?"

Recall that in December 2024, Wike indicated that the current administration is installing streetlights in all ongoing road construction in rural areas to improve security.

Wike stated this in Abuja while inaugurating the construction of a 10.5-kilometre access road to connect several communities on the Kabusa to Ketti road corridor.

He explained that all the ongoing road construction in satellite towns and rural communities in the FCT were being fitted with streetlights.

The move, according to him, is part of measures to improve security in the nation’s capital city.

“For the first time, you can see we are providing roads, and at the same time, providing streetlights.

“We have dualised Kuje township road. Go there at night and see the streetlights.

“This, in a way, will improve security in the affected communities,” Wike said.
