Nigerian international Kelechi Iheanacho has named Pep Guardiola, John Mikel Obi, Yaya Toure, and Brendan Rodgers among the players and managers who have influenced his football career.
Iheanacho played under Guardiola during his spell at Manchester City in the 2016-2017 season.
The Nigerian international also played with Ivorian legend Yaya Toure during his two-season spell at the Etihad.
At the international level, Iheanacho and Mikel Obi were teammates with the Super Eagles before Mikel Obi retired from professional football.
Iheanacho also worked with Brendan Rodgers during his stint at Leicester City.
“Biggest influence on my career? There are quite a couple. So many people helped me throughout my career, obviously, managers as well, [Manuel] Pellegrini, Brendan Rodgers, and Pep Guardiola.
“Players as well: Clichy, Kompany, Yaya Toure, obviously, and Jamie Vardy as well. There are a lot to be mentioned.
“A lot of people have helped me throughout my career, even in the [Nigerian] national team as well—John Mikel Obi, so many coaches have helped me as well, so that’s them.”
