Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso has disclosed that he will consider partnering Patrik Schick and Victor Boniface in future games.

The striking duo engineered Bayer Leverkusen's remarkable comeback victory over Koln in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday, February 5.

Boniface came off the bench to score the winner in extra time for Alonso's side.

Damion Downs gave Koln the lead on the stroke of halftime before Linton Maina made it 2-0 in the 54th minute.

Patrik Schick reduced the deficit in the 61st minute before scoring the equalizer deep into stoppage time, forcing the game into extra time where Boniface completed the turnaround.

It was the first time Boniface and Schick had played together this season.

When asked if the pair will be playing more often in the future, Alonso said:

“Yes, that’s an option. We decide what we need every game, and if we think that they can link up and understand what the team needs, it’s an option.”

The remarkable 3-2 victory sealed Leverkusen's place in the semi-final of the German Cup.
