Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North Senatorial District has been welcomed into the fold of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, where he was received by fellow APC lawmakers.
Shortly after his unveiling a new APC member, Nwoko fired shots at the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori.
When asked if he would welcome Oborevwori if he eventually joins APC as is being rumoured, the senator said: “No, I will not welcome him. How? Why? I have just told you that he doesn’t have the capacity to be a governor where we are. He has not delivered to my expectations.
“We have projects that I told him that are needed to be done for the people which he refused to do.”
Shortly after the Senate declaration, Nwoko was presented to the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, by the Minister of Aviation and Aero Dynamics, Festus Keyamo (SAN), at the APC National Secretariat and the entire members of the APC NWC.
The involvement of Keyamo sets the tone for what may be a leadership tussle in Delta APC.
Currently, the party has former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who recently claimed that three PDP House of Reps members would soon be joining APC.
He also said all three PDP House of Reps members would soon be joining APC.
With all Delta lawmakers in the APC, the party member who can have them all by his side will have enough to lay claim to the party's leadership.
This may explain why Keyamo got involved in Nwoko's presentation to Ganduje and Omo-Agege's excitement about the Delta North Senator.
The party's leadership is expected to be decided at the next Congress.
